Boundaries With Spirit: Are Mediums Always On?

Boundaries are essential—even in the spirit world. As a medium, I'm frequently asked if I constantly see dead people floating around me. The answer surprises most: no, spirits aren't bombarding me 24/7. They respect my energy and personal space, typically only appearing when I'm actively working with clients.

This boundary-setting is crucial for my wellbeing. Connecting with spirit requires significant energy, and if they constantly demanded my attention, I'd have nothing left for my family, self-care, or simply living my life. My late discovery of mediumship abilities wasn't accidental—it reflects my purpose to bring a grounded, skeptical perspective to this metaphysical work rather than living permanently between worlds.

Popular media perpetuates misconceptions about mediums being constantly "open." Shows depicting psychics approaching strangers in grocery stores are largely staged (imagine the liability of putting unsuspecting people on TV!). The reality is far more nuanced and controlled. However, exceptions do occur—like my recent facial appointment that unexpectedly turned into a spiritual encounter. Without actively seeking connections, I found myself receiving messages from my esthetician's departed grandmother, grandfather, and eventually her guardian angels. The experience felt divinely orchestrated, reminding me that when spirits do break through my boundaries, it's for a significant purpose.

These rare boundary-crossing moments reveal an important truth: there are no coincidences. When someone genuinely needs spiritual messages, my guides find ways to place me in their path. Though ethical lines can sometimes blur, I've learned to trust these divine appointments. So while I'm not constantly talking to dead people, I recognize that when they do appear unexpectedly, someone needed to hear exactly what they had to say. That's the delicate balance of mediumship—maintaining healthy boundaries while remaining open to those moments when breaking them serves a higher purpose.

Hello everyone, welcome back to empower your soul. I thought I would take a quick moment to answer a question that I get all the time, and you probably heard me answer it several times. So, rip, apologize to all of you, but what I get asked all the time is oh, you're a medium, you must see and talk to dead people all the time. They must be all around you all the time flocking you. And it's such an interesting question because my answer is always no, always no. And it's such an interesting question because my answer is always no, always no. And it's so interesting because I think there are some mediums out there who are bombarded, so I'm going to put that out there right now.

Speaker 1:

But I am personally not one of those. Spirit tends to respect my time, my energy. They come to me when I'm working and really pretty much leave me alone when I'm not working. There are exceptions to that which I'm going to get into, but for the most part they are very, very respectful of me and my personal time, because I did not come here to be in the spirit world 24-7. And I think that is definitely showcased by the fact of me kind of learning and coming into my mediumship abilities very much later in life. If I was meant to have 100% of myself in the spirit world and being in the woo woo all the time, then I would have been born with this and fully transparent to this my entire life. But that was not my life path. I was not meant to be that person. I know that I'm here to bring a very practical, grounded reality to this metaphysical world from a very critical and skeptical perspective, and so that is my path. So, because of that, spirit really respects the fact that I have things to do. I cannot be sitting there talking to you all the time. I do love the people, though, that have like their little waiting room for spirit. They do They'll like. They'll like put like a little open, sign up, or like they'll say I'm open between three and four today, and they'll they'll treat spirit like office hours. I kind of think that's adorable. I don't want to do that, though I don't have time for that. An hour a day, no, I'm going to go work out or something. So, for me personally, no, they don't. They don't come to me all the time.

Speaker 1:

I do think there's a lot of misconception out there, however, about the people that are open all the time. And I think again you're going to see this sensationalized through television, through mediumship shows and let's stick with my favorite, teresa Caputo, for a moment here. Because they show her going into restaurants, going into gas stations, right, like supermarkets why couldn't I think of that word? And they show her walking up to people and saying, oh, you have you lost your father. Is that right? And so they show it on TV because it makes really good TV, right, but sure as shit. You think she's just walking up to random people in the grocery store doing those things.

Speaker 1:

No, that is a liability from a TV perspective. Let's be completely real. Everybody, you can't do that, you can't put somebody's face in their whole life story on TV without their consent. Like there's no possible way. And I'm not Googling it, but I know it that these people are probably prepped, they know she's coming, because all those people they're not that, they're not that surprised to see her and get those readings right. They might be a little surprised to get the readings, but but they're walking and, knowing theresa's coming, she might have a reading for me. So you can tell in their faces, you can tell in their energy. So I think it's just interesting because we see one side of the and reality is very different on the other side of the story.

Speaker 1:

For mediums because I don't know a lot of mediums that walk around wide open getting all the downloads all the time it takes energy. It takes work. When I connect with spirit, again it takes energy. So if they're taking energy away from me, besides my clients, they're taking my energy away from my husband, away from my kids, away from my personal time where I need to be like relaxing and resting and refreshing my energy for the next reading. So, no, they are very respectful and generous with me that they don't tend to bother me. However, there are always exceptions to every rule. Because it's ironic, I'm recording this today.

Speaker 1:

I went to go get a facial yesterday and I didn't know why I need to get the facial. I don't even know why. Like I got a little hyperpigmentation who doesn't? By the time they hit 40? Right, and so I was googling that one day, for God, I don't even know why. And then I found a local esthetician and she had really good reviews on Google and I was. You know what. I'll book it. I'll book it. So I booked with her. I normally go to somebody else all the time and I was like I don't know why I'm gonna go book book it with her. And sure enough, I get there and it's the cutest. It's the cutest spa. I'm obsessed with this spa. I think I'm definitely going back. But I get there and it's so cozy, like in this amazing way, like the energy is flawless in here. She's got like big Buddha statues on the wall. She's got crystal grids out, she's got like the aromatherapy going. I'm like this is my girl, I love her already and so she can.

Speaker 1:

As soon as she put like the first I don't know cleaner on my face in walks, her abuela, and I'm like, oh God, here we go. And it was just like, and I just felt her, I felt her abuela, and I felt her abuela like over her, helping her, watching her. And then all of a sudden I see a dozen roses and I was like, oh God, this one's for me. And she's like, don't worry, she'll be okay with it, can you tell her? I said hi, and for me a dozen roses means anniversary, not, um, not usually a birthday, because they'll come in with balloons, but a dozen roses means some sort of an anniversary, either um, a passing, or like a wedding. I need to have them separate that out. So I saw the dozen roses and then I proceeded to read through, like her entire freaking family.

Speaker 1:

It was the most ridiculous of facials because, you know, getting the facial just getting all my clogged pores out, like it's a little painful, it's a little, you know, it's good pain. It's that kind of pain. And as I'm sitting there getting my pores squeezed out, her grandfather comes in. He's telling me about how he died right, and I'm not like actually tapping in, like I'm not sitting there looking to see who's there watching over her. It's like I was the open revolving door and they were all just coming in to say hi to me. That's kind of how this went and I didn't like I wasn't asking questions, I was just trying to relax in the moment. And then I feel a cousin come in and then I feel an aunt come in and I'm just like, oh my God, are we done yet? Everybody.

Speaker 1:

And then, once, once the parade of her departed relatives came through, I felt her angels, I felt how she was divinely guided and it was so interesting kind of working up this. I'm going to say the food chain sorry, dead people, but working at the food chain from like departed loved ones to angels, to like archangels, right, like I could feel them all at different levels and it was so interesting to me to kind of feel them kind of come in one at a time and I'm sure there was some sort of lesson in it for me in terms of how they came in and the different vibrations. And I have to be completely terms of how they came in and the different vibrations and I have to be completely, completely honest with all of you. No-transcript bombarded by angels, never. It's usually departed loved ones. Departed loved ones are usually the ones that will cross your boundaries, just like they do here, right, and they'll be the ones that come in and try to butt their way in and try to give their loved one a free reading Seen. It happen. They generally respect me and those ones I tend to kick out.

Speaker 1:

But the fact that we went from these different levels to angels and they showed themselves to me like what, what they look like and how they watched over her and um, the fact that they went through all that and the fact that I never been here before felt divinely guided. Um, felt like I needed to get a facial by this woman didn't hesitate booking it. I'm like there's timeout, something else is going on here. So I, at the end of the once, once my face was glowing and clear, thank, thank you, thank you. I went to go check out and I I'm like I have to ask you, do you believe in mediumship? And she just kind of got this look on her face and I was like that's a yes, but she didn't expect me to say that Got it. And I was like I have to tell you that I'm a medium.

Speaker 1:

And all your people kept coming through. And she's like oh, my God, I'm so sorry. And I was like no, no, no, no, no. I'm like they, it's fine, they wouldn't have come through if they weren't supposed to come through, because I and sorry, I have to pause there for a second because I have to tell you they don't come through unless they need to come through. Okay, they don't come through just to say hi.

Speaker 1:

For the most part, they tend to come through because they have something important to say, and that's what they did. They came through to give her this important message that she's loved, she's divinely protected, the angels are with her, she's on this path, she's doing everything right, and that her grandfather, who was um, who passed young, he was a businessman, he watches over you, he helps you with the business and it and it's exactly what she needed to hear. It, it, it. It was exactly what she needed to hear, because I don't know what's going on. I was only there, like I just gave her, like here's the dump of everything they kind of told me. So I just wanted to give it to you and she was open to receiving it and I did ask permission first, but it was so interesting because there's no accidents I ended up there there's no accidents that she was my esthetician lady and and that she had time after the reading for me to kind of give her the information.

Speaker 1:

So spirit will, I'm going to say, orchestrate events like that that she needed to hear. And, by the way, she calls in her angels every day and I was like, oh, that makes so much sense. That's why all the angels were there. But I gave her, I think, some nuggets of gold. And what was cool is that, um, for me personally, the way she was like I went to a medium after my abuela died, and everything you said. She said and I said, yeah, yeah, I said, but here's some of some more stuff for you. And it was her abuela's passing anniversary coming up in a couple weeks, so I'm like that makes sense. So I had to kind of give her these messages because spirit was just like so strong and I think that's the difference. And this is not that I'm setting the intention with all the dead people right now. This is not an open invitation, I am not fair game. But I think it is interesting because what I have set is set.

Speaker 1:

The intention of with my team is if somebody needs a reading, you need to line it up and you need to get them in my, in my, you need to get them next to me somehow, you need to get them in my space. And they do that. They orchestrate it. I don't take any leads. I follow the signs. That's literally what I do. I just follow the signs. Is it, is it ethical? I don't. I follow the signs. That's literally what I do. I just follow the signs. Is it, is it ethical? I don't, I don't know. I try not. I try to be as ethical as possible. I don't know. I have to be honest with you.

Speaker 1:

I think most people want the reading. You know when it's me and my friends are there and they're like I was like, yes, give me all the intuitive hits I want them all like, but I'm that kind of person, right, and I can discern fact from fiction. I could discern what feels like an alignment with me versus what doesn't feel like an alignment with me. But because I'm versed in this language, and I think for a lot of people that might not be versed in this language, it's a very touchy subject, and so that's why, even when it does happen, I still seek to get the yes that it's okay to share from them before I kind of deliver the messages.

Speaker 1:

And I trust that spirit has put me in the right place at the right time to deliver what needs to be delivered. And so I'm very grateful for this woman yesterday, on a very, very, very, very rare occasion for me to kind of give her this message, and I'm very grateful for spirit for putting me in that that way to let her know she was divinely loved and protected and supported on her journey, which is exactly what she needed to hear at the time. And I think this is the fact of being a lightworker is that I don't think we ask to be bombarded, but when we are, there's a reason and we kind of have to trust it. I have to trust it, and so I guess that's what I'm going to challenge all of you to think about is do you trust that whoever spirit puts in your way, and if you're getting for information without being asked and it's really strong and it's really clear, I don't know should you deliver that message? Maybe, if you, if you're comfortable with it, that's probably a yes.

But I guess I guess this gets to the point of those ethical lines are really blurry sometimes, right, they're really blurry. Ethical lines are really blurry sometimes, right, they're really blurry. But I guess, to answer the question, I always get all the time. No, spirit does not bombard me all the time, but on those rare occasions that they do, I always wonder why. Why? Because they know how protective I am, I know how protective my team is, and so I think I'm going to start answering that question with a no, they don't bother me, but if someone needs a message, they don't.
