What's in it for the dead? While we often focus on what we gain from connecting with the spirit world, the spirits themselves have their own fascinating motivations for working with us.

Using my trusty "dead bell" (which chimes enthusiastically throughout this episode), I explore the surprising benefits spirits receive from participating in mediumship, ancestral healing, and soul alignment work. Contrary to common belief that spirits are simply benevolent helpers with unlimited knowledge, they're actively engaged in their own learning process when connecting with us. Just as mediums learn to use their clairs and develop intuition, spirits are learning to manipulate energy, connect across dimensions, and communicate through symbols.

Some of the most enlightening revelations come through what I call the "revolving door exercise" - connecting with random spirits not associated with anyone present. These spirits often seek out mediums because their own living family members don't believe in mediumship, giving them rare opportunities to practice communication skills they'd otherwise miss. I went to a few practice sessions last night Everett the student over here and I received very similar messages from Spirit across two different people in two different practice circles last night and I want to talk about what they said, because they were talking about what Spirit's perspective is in mediumship reading. So here we go. We're going to talk about what does spirit get out of working with us in the spirit world? And before I go into the weeds of that entire dialogue, I wanted to take a moment to introduce you to my dead bell. I know that you've been hearing this thing ding over and over again in the background of these podcasts, maybe in my social media videos. This is a dead bell. It essentially looks like a bell, hot bell and or a restaurant bell and it is a paranormal device that essentially you charge, because spirit needs electricity to work. You charge this device and spirit will come through and just ring the bell on its own. So whenever you hear, I'm going to press it myself. That ding in the background and apologies if that's really loud that is spirit coming through and I've taken this as a confirmation, a sign of yes, a mic drop from spirit, letting them know, letting me know to pay attention and or this is a really important thing, and they agree with it. It's the best thing ever, okay, like it's just, it was cracking me up last night. I actually love reading with it, although I don't think all of my clients I'm going to say it that way All of my people are ready for it, ding. So that was, oh, that was unprompted by me, that was from spirit. So, but all of you I know absolutely love this thing. And last night, in a reading I gave somebody, the spirit was literally just hitting the bell the whole time and I was like this guy loves this bell and he just kept digging it and digging it and digging it, and the person I was reading she ended up having paranormal devices too. So it was really cool. So that is my dead bell. It is wicked, freaking cool. I got it on ghostopcom. Again, I'll put I'll put the link, my affiliate link, in the show notes, because it is amazing, I'm obsessed with this. Okay, so back to the topic at hand, thank you. Spirit, oh goodness, it's like a train today.

Speaker 1:

Back to the topic at hand. Oh my goodness, what does spirit get out of working with us in this metaphysical world? So I'm talking mediumship, I'm talking ancestral healing, I'm talking soul alignment, or Akashic Records readings, and general healing of us as souls. And the two messages I received last night are and I'm going to go back to my notes that I had from yesterday are that it's a pleasure to work with us and I really wanted to hone in and go really deep on what does that mean? Like, what does that really mean in a tale? And I want to dissect it. So I'm going to ask my departed loved ones to join me for this reading today and to help me maybe interview them a little bit and get their perspective on this topic as I go through my quick chicken scratch of what I want to cover today.

Speaker 1:

So, first of all, I do want to say that my perspective in general has always been that spirit does not need to do this. Okay, I've they've pretty much showed up every single reading I've ever had, which is interesting unto itself, but they have all the time in the world, because time doesn't exist in the universe. They have all the space in the world, so they can be anywhere at any time. So I know that participating in readings thank you Spirit is of no burden to them. And so I do want to start with that, because I think it's really important to call that out, because I have a lot of clients that come to me saying I don't want to bother them. They're probably busy in the Spirit world. Okay, chill it down. I'm going to turn the sensitivity down a little bit. They are here because they are always around and you can't stop me. I heard them say oh, I think I know who that one is. Um, but it is of no burden to them to participate in these activities. So when I say it's of no burden, I agree, I don't want to bother them either, but at the same time, I think that it's at least neutral, if not positive, for them to participate with us. So let's go into that because, again, they can be anywhere at any time. They have no time, they have unlimited energy. They're like vampires on the other side. So it makes sense that they're like probably maybe I don't know bored, we'll get that, we'll get to that and want to come and join and help us. Probably bored is not the right word here, but I do want to highlight the lack of a burden here. So let's start with mediumship readings, because I think this is a really cool space that I want to go into.

Speaker 1:

Ancestral readings or healing your soul, healing your path, etc. Because I think that they truly enjoy overall being of service to us here in the physical world. In the way that, you know, grandparents love helping toddlers out. It's kind of my perspective with this, because I think that they do want to help us. They do want to help us grow and move through our burdens, move through our patterns that don't serve us, and I truly think that we are all one team that is trying to help each other grow, become our best selves and learn our soul's lessons as soon as possible, and so, from my perspective, I truly would agree that they would enjoy being of service and helping us evolve our soul and overcome obstacles here in the physical world.

Speaker 1:

Now, that being said, what do they get out of it? Right? And it was really interesting to receive two of these readings last night that gave a little bit of that perspective that they do truly enjoy working with us. They do truly enjoy the puzzle that is mediumship on their end, because, if you think about it from their perspective and they're showing me in my head they essentially have to kind of reach through this veil and connect with us in the physical world, which is something that not all spirits or souls have the opportunity to do.

Speaker 1:

This is a challenge for them. They have to learn the language just as much as we learn the language, and I know that everyone says spirit is unlimited in knowledge. And they know all and they see all. But I don't know if I've always agreed with that, because if we know all and see all, wouldn't we already know all of our soul's lessons? Why the heck are we here learning and growing Right? And so I think we may know or see all, but we still have to experience, we still have to learn, we still have to go through the motions to really understand what a lot of these lessons look like or feel like, because, as we know, they don't always turn out the way that we expect them to right. We might have plan A, and then plan B, c and D come along in the middle of trying to accomplish plan A and we get off track. And this is the burden that we face as souls in our journey, because nothing is a linear A to B. There's always side quests and things that we need to do or learn along the way to accomplish A or accomplish B.

Speaker 1:

I don't know what my letters are, so I truly think that souls get involved with us in the mediumship space to expand their own horizons and learning on the other side. So I'm going to give this perspective because here in the physical world, we are learning if you're a medium or if you're connecting to spirit. We are learning how to engage with the spirit world. We're learning how to use our clairs, how to read, how to trust our intuition, how to go inward, how to quiet right, how to create that energetic connection with souls, either here in the physical world or in the spirit world. What makes you think that they aren't trying to do the exact same on the other side? Right, they are also having that experience of trying to learn, trying to connect, trying to do the exact same on the other side, right, they are also having that experience of trying to learn, trying to connect, trying to manipulate the energy. So they send you signs and symbols, right, so that they can treat us like marionette dolls, like the podcast the other day, and so I truly think that they get involved with us to expand their own horizons and growth in the spirit world in a way that maybe I don't fully understand. So that's kind of one.

Speaker 1:

And then, in terms of number two, for mediums in particular, I do think that your family, your team, thoroughly enjoys working with you and teaching you all of these different modalities. So if you think that they just come in with like a drink in hand, with an umbrella in it and are here to party every single time, no, I mean, I truly believe that they are going and doing the research. They are watching other mediums work, they're watching how you work, because I can tell you that my team throws in new things my way all the time, things that I don't think I have personally seen. It happened to a lot of other mediums. So, to give you an example, last night I felt two souls come in with one of the women I was reading, and one of them literally described the woman I was sitting in front of and I could see her as if she was a soul on the other side departed and everything I said about her she's like that's me, you're describing me and God bless her. I love her, I want to be her best friend forever.

Speaker 1:

She's from Australia and she's lovely and I'm obsessed with her. And she's a senior citizen. I'm obsessed with her. Okay, I love oldies, let me just say it that way. So she's, she's the sweetest lady and there's no judgment in her saying you're reading me, that's, that's me. Well, she's got, she's got the, the, uh, you the Australian accent.

Speaker 1:

I will not butcher that one for all of you, but it was really interesting Cause I'm like why on earth are they showing you? I still don't know. I have to figure this out, but I don't know. Like, maybe this is going to be a new tool that I use in very large developments or development circles to come, or demonstrations where I'm going to. They're going to show me who I'm going to connect with and then I go and connect with them. I don't know, I don't know what this is. If anyone else has experienced that, let me know. But my team consistently likes to throw me for a loop so that I can innovate and teach and do things very differently. My spirits are my teachers, right, my team are my teachers, so they're not sitting around there lazily like suntanning on the other side although I think my mother-in-law is but the rest of them are hard at work, studying, trying to figure out how they can help me in this journey, because I think they get as much enjoyment out of learning and teaching that I do in receiving that learning and that teaching from all of them.

Speaker 1:

Ding the bell's on fire today. I just had to introduce it and then it won't stop. Okay so in terms of it won't stop. Okay so in terms of mediumship. The other topic I wanted to bring in really quickly and there's no coincidence about this because on Monday night in my mediumship mastermind, spirit told me you're going to practice, and then enough people showed up that I didn't get the opportunity to practice in my own circle. So I love to practice with my students in my mediumship mastermind circle. Sometimes the numbers are even and I don't need to practice, right? But Spirit told me in advance that I'm going to practice.

Speaker 1:

So I'm sitting there just waiting in the in the main lobby of Zoom and seeing if anyone is going to hop on, maybe late or anything like that. No one did, and then Spirit was like knocking on my head and they're like so are you going to practice? And I said, fine, okay, so I'll pull in random spirits and read them, even though there's no validation, I don't know who these souls are, et cetera. Okay, and I'm working as ever on names, hoping I'm really close on that, and I pull in an Uncle Fabian, fabio Fabian, I pull in a friend, joey, and I pull in a Grandma Lucy.

Speaker 1:

Okay, and it wasn't obviously an in-depth reading because I didn't have a sitter, so I was mainly working on the evidence of the things that are coming in. What am I getting? Trying to get very specific evidence, and so I kind of call this the revolving door exercise, where I will just bring spirits that I don't know in and I will read them, even though I can't really validate anything that they're telling me in the moment, but it might come through later on. Now here is where spirit answered that for me last night in my reading, because one of the women that read me in a practice circle, mind you, told me that there are spirits that work with me, that don't know me and can't be placed, and they love working with me and coming to me because they don't have another outlet to practice mediumship, because their loved ones here in the physical world are not into mediumship, they don't believe in it. So you have these souls on the other side that are unable to connect via mediumship to their departed loved ones and she's like they're a little sad about that. They really wish they could have the connection that you have with your family and your departed loved ones really wish they could have the connection that you have with your family and your departed loved ones. And so when we're pulling in these randos, as I call them, the random souls that cannot be discerned or assigned to anyone, that I know they love working with us because they wouldn't have the opportunity to otherwise.

Speaker 1:

Now, isn't that interesting? And isn't it so interesting that I pulled three of them the night before and I sent a note out to my mediumship mastermind group and I was like, hey, I'm just going to throw it out here I don't think this is for any of you, but I'm going to toss it out here that I got these three people and one of them maybe can take it I'll chat with her later this week but the rest of them don't. It didn't land. And I was like, well, it makes sense. I felt like they were random souls, and doesn't that explain it the next night that they were random souls that just wanted the opportunity to work and try mediumship with me.

Speaker 1:

So if you are a medium and you have this revolving door exercise and it drives you freaking batty because you can't validate the information, I just want to say, like I understand, but also you're being of service to spirit, who doesn't have the opportunity to do this otherwise, and that they appreciate these revolving door exercises so much. So isn't that so cool? I loved it. Spirit never, ever ceases to surprise me or amaze me in any of these things. Okay, so the other thing that I wanted to go through is the ancestral or soul work that we do as souls.

Speaker 1:

So I know for a fact my mother is going to come back to haunt me, for example. Okay, I talk about her every episode. I'm so sorry she is going to haunt me, though, because I constantly give her shit on this podcast and everywhere else, right? I'm going to be honest with you. My grand grandmother's I'm going to say it they were both kind of bitches, like. The narcissism in my family did not originate with my mother. It went back on both sides of my family, right?

Speaker 1:

So when we're talking about ancestral healing. It's always really interesting to me because I come from this long line of not the most stable of women and who were not motherly and did not necessarily care about anyone but themselves or what other people thought of them. Ok, so there we go, ding Accurate is what they're telling me in my head, and so when everyone tells me to connect to my grandmother, I just start laughing and I'm like no offense, archangel Gabriel is my guide, right? I don't need that. No offense, I'm not going to choose my toxic grandmother over Archangel Gabriel. It's just not going to happen. I'm sorry it's not, so that cracks me up, but it's so interesting to me doing this ancestral healing and doing this work. Excuse me, because here's where I'm going to get into.

Speaker 1:

Like a little bit of a flaw about me and I have many, I'm not afraid to say that is that when I was doing my healing, I felt like I had to separate who I was and my healing journey from my ancestors, because I needed to draw the line, create a giant boundary between me and the toxic energy of my family and my lineage, because I was no longer going to continue their patterns, their behaviors, their beliefs, because I did not want to hand it down to my kids. So if you heard the readings that I got on the very beginning of my metaphysical journey, or even before I found out I was a medium the words the mediums or these practitioners would use when you built a wall, you protected your family, you've cut them off, and so even the verbiage that I received in this readings echoed the sentiment that I felt about I'm not engaging with them or their energy anymore. The Good Witch of the Northeast, as this ancestral healer, I'm slowly this is my own distrust coming to the conclusion that it doesn't need to be the way that I did it. Now, in the way that I did it, I'm proud of myself in doing it. I know it wasn't easy to essentially rebuild my foundation all by myself, erase all of the family lines and, kind of like, pull out all of these cords with the lineage and say no more, take it back. And so I essentially in my solitude, you think they said built and healed myself so that I could be my best self right, so that I could fully trust myself and be independent in my own healing and growth and get to essentially where I am today, which is why I have the strength tarot card tattooed on my left thigh is because I needed that inner strength to do this myself and to not lean on systems that I knew that were toxic, that were going to be detrimental to my healing. I knew that were toxic, that were going to be detrimental to my healing.

Speaker 1:

Enter ancestral healing, right, which is really interesting because knowing what I know now and being able to connect as a medium I connect to departed loved ones all the time that made bad decisions, that were not good people, that were toxic, that were narcissistic, and they always come through with apologies. They always come through of I didn't know any better. I did the best with what I could. Enter other podcasts I talked about recently as well, correct, and so I'm now coming from that perspective of their owning their journey and how that impacted you. But what I never considered is how much they want to help you on your journey and I think this is the recent revelation Like I think I knew it, but I think I pushed it away because of my own history and bias right that they are there to help you grow and change and evolve, and a lot of what we do when we look at ancestral healing is we look back and we shun them right and we say no more, I don't want to be a part of you.

Speaker 1:

I mean, I know metaphysical practitioners that still won't talk to their departed family. That's really toxic. I mean, honest to God, present company included, right Up until recently, and so they want nothing to do with these lineages. And I'm here to tell you who they were in this life, and I've said this to clients myself over and over again who they were in this life is not who they were as souls, who they are as souls. And I want you to know that those souls, a lot of them, come through because they're ashamed of who they were and what they were in this lifetime. They take responsibility for it. They understand, you know that was a life path, absolutely, but they're more ashamed of the impact it made on you and made it your soul's journey more difficult than it needed to be.

Speaker 1:

And so, in order to, I'm going to say quote, unquote, right, wrongs, and again, I don't think there's any accidents. So this is my weird gray space of we walk in knowing what's going to happen, but also they still want to help you knowing what happened. It's I'm sorry, it's a mess. I'm constantly. I'm constantly like going against myself with a lot of these things. But, either way, they probably know that you are going to overcome the toxicity and the behaviors that you come from, much like myself, and they just wanna step in and help me do that, because they know I'm gonna be able to do that and they wanna be able to help me as much as they can, given that they cause some of that pain that I'm about to overcome. And so they know their faults, they know their failures, they know what journey you're on and they want to help right against some of those wrongs that they've instilled or placed on you either directly or indirectly, either consciously or subconsciously, because they do come from loving energy, helpful energy, and they do want what's best for you at the end of the day, right, their souls do, and isn't that just interesting? And so I don't think that we need to draw the line of us versus them in this ancestral healing space, and I think that our ancestors are rooting us on in this journey of becoming and improving the family line.

Speaker 1:

Now enter this really interesting reading I did the other day. I was waiting for Spirit to return. They dropped it in earlier and I was waiting for them to bring it back. Enter this really odd reading I had the other day with somebody, I don't remember who. At this point it's all a little bit of a mess, which is great, because then I'm not biased when I sit in front of you and don't remember your departed loved ones. And I sit in front of you and don't remember your departed loved ones, but we were talking about the similar journey to what I just said. Okay, similar journey to me.

Speaker 1:

This woman who comes from a very toxic, narcissistic family, mother guilts, blames everything on their daughter, and I'm talking to the daughter. The daughter is my client and what is so interesting about this story is the conversation of. This is really. This is a lot. Okay, all right, hang on a second. This is a lot. Let me. I'm going to ask spirit to help me tell this story, because it's so complex and deep and beautiful, but also not very long.

Speaker 1:

This spiritual team came in to tell my client, essentially, that her mother entered this lifetime knowing that she would not be able to overcome the toxic family that she had belonged to, knowing that she would perpetuate the negativity, the guilt, the toxicity to her daughter, the guilt, the toxicity to her daughter, but that would be a catalyst that would help her daughter change, and the way that she would approach it as a mom would encourage her daughter to be fiercely independent, to follow her own path, to not believe the lies and fallacies and guilt that her mother was placing on her. So her mother opted to essentially be the devil in her life, knowing and sacrificing herself so that I know it's such a term sacrificing herself, so that the daughter could be triggered enough to heal herself, to heal her lineage, and not look back and repeat the same patterns that had been enmeshed in the family for decades, generations. And so I want you to think about that and possibly reframe what you think you know about your ancestors on the other side, because some of them came in ready for battle and were not able to overcome what they hoped they could do in this lifetime. Thank you, free Will. Others have purposely sacrificed themselves and come into your life knowing that it would cause you pain, but ultimately it was for the greater good of you and your journey here in this physical world. It was for the greater good of you and your journey here in this physical world, and so this is what I mean when I say they are rooting you on is that they want you to live your best life, even if that means you're doing it by cutting them off, by getting rid of them, by disowning them, by not talking to them in the spirit world, because they understand and they don't take it personally if you don't. By not talking to them in the spirit world, because they understand and they don't take it personally if you don't want to talk to them, but ultimately know that everything in the spirit world is love, it is of service, it is growth and change, and evolution is really the big word I want to say. It's the soul's evolution on the other side that really drives them, and so you bet your ass that they fucking love working with us in the mediumship space because they will take any opportunity they can get to help you, to help me, to help any of us grow into the next evolution of our soul. Damn, right, damn. So with that, I'm going to thank my amazing team, my departed loved ones, my ancestors, my guides for literally always being there.

Speaker 1:

And I have to tell you my Uncle Roger he's just given up showing up the way that he was in the physical world. He repeatedly comes through the way that he comes through in my head because I don't think he liked how he looked when he was a little vain, when he was getting closer to passing, and so he ends up showing up like this, like 30, 40 year old hot rod and like a leather jacket with like grease style slick back hair. And so now it cracks me up when, when he so at least he's having fun with this he's like no, I'm not showing up as him anymore, I don't like looking like him. So now he shows up as this guy that looks like he should be on the New Jersey shore In all my readings and I just laugh and I have to take it because I know who's trying to come through. So so, yeah, so they love it, they absolutely love it, and so that my students will learn, I know that will happen, that's only a matter of time.

This was really fun to walk through and process with all of you, and I am going to really think hard about this and keep muddling it around in my head because I think it's so intriguing thinking about what does spirit get out of this besides their own healing and journey and knowledge, and I think that's pretty rad what we do.
